Walking on Water

Walking on WaterSilhouetted heron at sunrise on the Potomac River So many changes, challenges, trials, and tribulations, right? One right after another. How do we manage to get through it all and when will life just be smooth sailing with everything in place like we imagined and planned?

When I woke up this morning, I saw this beautiful sunrise and the silhouette of a heron that appeared to be walking on water. What you don't see in the picture, which I edited extensively, is that it was low tide and there were several logs and branches just below the surface of the water supporting the heron.

It seemed to be a perfect metaphor for how we manage to stay afloat when life gets tough. Where would any of us be without support?

So, as I launch this new blog, I'd like to say thank you to my family, friends, co-workers, teachers, and all the people I meet who take the time to lend support in whatever way they know how, in good times and bad. I couldn't do it without you. None of us can.

It makes me feel like I'm walking on water.
